Historical Katarina Lift, Katarinahissen, an elevator connecting the Slussplan or Lock's Space area with the higher-lying district of Södermalm, Stockholm, 

The Katarina Lift was originally erected in 1883. When it was torn down fifty years later, in 1933, the people of Stockholm missed it so much that it was rebuilt soon afterward on the same site. The elevator has two cars that can take you up the rock face of the island, Södern, to the lofty streets of the scenic old Mosebacke neighborhood.

Katarinahissen (or Katarina Elevator) was built to help connect the lower streets of Slussen to the heights of Södermalm, making them more accessible to locals. The original lift construction dates back to 1881, although much of the remaining structure is from its renovation in 1936. 2015 påbörjade jag ett modellbygge av Katarinahissen i skala 1:50. Detta var en ide jag haft sedan 1961. Då byggde jag en modell i balsaträ och förlagan var detta vykort. Modellen idag är exakt skalenlig och förebilden är 2015 innan alla skyltar och hisskorgar och maskineri togs bort.

The original lift was constructed in 1881, but the current structure dates from the rebuilding of the Slussen transport interchange in 1936. The lift has been closed since 2010 due to security problems in the construction.

Katarinahissen är en 38 meter hög offentlig personhiss i Slussenområdet på Södermalm i Stockholm. Anläggningen förbinder Katarinavägen vid Slussen via två gångbroar med Mosebacke torg . Nuvarande hiss invigdes 1936.
